Controls:

  • WASD or Arrow Keys to move
  • 'E' to interact with light switches and unlocked doors
  • Left click or Enter to skip/proceed dialogue.

After an accident in the lab, you spill tons of potions and turn into a shadow. After becoming a shadow, you rapidly get hurt by light, so you must avoid every light source in order to survive.

You want to turn yourself back into a human, so you must steal potions from the lab and avoid the ceiling lights and the flashlights by turning off the light switches and hiding under moving platforms!

did encounter the random game over bug, got stuck on the last level, this was a well executed puzzle plat-former that did a good job implementing the themes of the jam and ray-tracing.

Simple and effective! Small scope just enough for the jam. If anything, it lacks a little ambition but that's perfectly fine!

Thanks for playing! I know the scope is pretty small and I did want to introduce new game mechanics to new levels, like temporary blackouts that the Talking Computer could cause to help the player, but it was too much for me to add in the time given.

Very interesting game. While the idea is common, still interesting to see takes of shadow vs light mechanics. Also love the angular shadows.

EDIT: Just replayed the game again, and found a bug, where the game over screen sometimes stays, even after restarting. The game can still be completed even with the screen, but can be removed if pressed restart again.

About that bug, it was a real head scratcher cuz I had set it to remove the game over screen after you pressed restart, but somehow, it just doesn’t go away :(
